1944年，罗马，被纳粹侵占下伤痕累累的大街。德军肆无忌惮的搜捕着保卫家园的游击队，意大利地下反抗组织领袖、工程师乔治·曼菲蒂（马塞罗·巴格利埃罗 Marcello Pagliero 饰）遭到德军追缉。危急中，曼菲蒂逃往朋友弗朗西斯科家中暂避，在弗朗西斯科的未婚妻碧娜（安娜·玛妮雅妮 Anna Magnani 饰）的帮助下，曼菲蒂见到了唐·彼得罗神父（阿尔多·伯立兹 Aldo Fabrizi 饰），并请神父将一笔巨款交给游击队。弗兰西斯科为了掩护曼菲蒂而被捕，碧娜也中弹身亡。然而绝处逢生的曼菲蒂被女友告密，曼菲蒂和神父被捕入狱。纳粹故意在神父面前严刑拷打曼菲蒂，两人最终在敌人的酷刑和枪弹下英勇牺牲。 本片根据塞吉欧·阿米迪的原著改编。。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power. Eva Näripe。上海苏州河上，用摩托车替人送货的马达（贾宏声）接下送接纯真少女牡丹（周迅）的活，两人相处时，牡丹爱上马达，但就在她决定把终身托付给对方时，马达财迷心窍联合黑道朋友绑架了她，令牡丹心灰意冷跳进苏州河里。临跳前，牡丹丢下会变成美人鱼再寻马达的话。 五年后，为自己行为懊悔不迭的马达疑惑牡丹又回来了，开始四处找寻。当在某酒吧里看到扮美人鱼表演的美美（周迅）时，马达认定她就是牡丹，然而美美不过是另一个痴情女子而已。。
