In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power. Eva Näripe。春秋战国时期，庞涓因妒忌孙膑精通《孙子兵法》，唯恐其被魏惠王重用，一面派亲侄庞茅与诚儿侍奉孙膑左右，一面却在惠王和太子面前说其坏话。庞涓设下阴谋，诬告孙膑与齐国私通，惠王欲治孙膜死罪。庞涓欲得"兵法"真谛，假意向惠王求请，孙膑被减刑挖去膝盖骨。孙膑不明真相，将《孙子兵法》默写给庞涓。庞涓想得到真谛后毒死孙膑，其用心被庞茅、诚儿揭穿。孙膑被软禁，庞茅、诚儿与齐国使臣淳于凳将孙腹救往齐国后，双双死在庞涓手下。齐王在孙膑智谋下，将进攻韩国的庞涓诱杀于马陵道。。富家女君儿(蔡卓妍饰)身患重症，因家中缺乏温暖令她放弃了治疗，并决定由小段（陈奕迅饰）筹备她自己的丧礼。小段尝试鼓励君儿珍惜生命，但君儿仍坚持在他陪同下前往美国寻找适合的墓地。 相处的时间中，小段生活处处照顾君儿，令君儿感动因而产生了感情，并答应小段好好治病。 可是小段对她若即若离，令她深感疑惑，在她用情越来越深的时候，小段突然消失了。 最后君儿也终于发现，小段对她若即若离的原因。。
