Special thanks to the family of Usmar Ismail.。梁朝伟扮演深藏不露的总督察刘正熙，金城武则饰演一位智勇兼备却又嗜酒成性的私家侦探丘健邦，二人亦师亦友，为生死之交。故事以一宗残酷的灭门惨案开始，带出各人的过去，逐步揭示出案中所隐藏的事实真相。丘健邦带着过去的伤痛，却又和舒淇扮演的细凤关系扑朔迷离，徐静蕾扮演的金淑珍为刘正熙的新婚太太，却不知自己是被丈夫利用的工具，人性的诡异与布局的奇情，在本片中得以全面的彰显。。
